PWR: All roads lead to Wrevolution X
Philippine Wrestling Revolution will host its first women's match and decide the inaugural tag team champs at its third annual extravaganza

MANILA, Philippines – On Sunday, April 30, all roads lead to this year’s biggest professional wrestling extravaganza in the country, Wrevolution X.

The Philippine Wrestling Revolution (PWR) is set to make history at the Bayanihan Center in Kapitolyo, Pasig City.

The PWR Championship and Philippine Hybrid X (PHX) Championship will be on the line. Plus, the first-ever PWR Tag Team champions will be crowned.

Also taking place is a highly-anticipated encounter between two top-tier wrestlers, the first women’s wrestling match in PWR history, and an “All Out War.”

Here’s a rundown of the matches at the third annual Wrevolution X.

PWR Championship: John Sebastian (c) vs. Chris Panzer

Two words have haunted Chris Panzer in his career so far: choke artist. He had earned opportunities to bring home the prize, only to let it slip away despite tremendous effort. Here’s his latest attempt: cashing in his Path of Gold trophy at the main event of Wrevolution X to challenge PWR Champion John Sebastian. It’s make-or-break time for the leader of the Panzer Army.

On the other hand, Sebastian has survived challengers like Jake de Leon, The Apocalypse, and Main Maxx, albeit via controversial finishes. Sebastian walking out with PWR Title each time seems to be a message to Panzer: “I always get my hand raised. I always win.”

Can Panzer turn things around and emerge from the Path of Gold with championship gold? Or will the self-proclaimed Wrestling Lord and Savior notch another victory and remain on top of the PWR food chain?

PHX Championship – Three-way Match

SANDATA earned the right at PWR Live: Mainit to face Peter Versoza for the PHX Title. But his win was not without controversy. SANDATA’s opponent, Ralph Imabayashi, had his foot on the ropes when the Huling Mandirigma applied the ankle lock.

PWR General Manager Mr. Sy later announced that the PHX Championship match at Wrevolution X will be a three-way bout. Joining Versoza and SANDATA will be the winner of a match also on Sunday between Ralph Imabayashi and Chino Guinto.

Who will pull double duty, and can he win the title? Will SANDATA win his first championship, or will his former tag team partner Peter Versoza party all the way home still with the PHX title belt?

PWR Tag Team Championship – Tournament Final

PWR’s tag teams now have a championship to vie for, and 3 teams will have the opportunity to etch their names in history on Sunday.

Veteran brawlers Fighters 4 Hire (Joey Bax and Miguel Rosales), dynamic duo The YOLO Twins (Yohann and Logan Ollores) and young guns Deadly Sinns (Mike Madrigal and Vlad Sinnsyk) duke it out for tag team supremacy.

Watch out also for the design of the PWR Tag Team championship belt. Here’s a teaser photo, courtesy of “The Senyorito” Jake de Leon:

“The Senyorito” Jake de Leon vs. Billy Suede

Former National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) Canadian Junior Heavyweight Champion Billy Suede was looking for tough competition in PWR. At Wrevolution X, he’ll get his wish when he faces two-time PWR Champion “The Senyorito” Jake de Leon.

The Fil-Canadian wrestler and De Leon traded punches at PWR Live: Mainit, then taunted each other online over tea and inasal chicken. On Sunday, one man would have to eat his words and swallow his pride.

Who between “The Senyorito” and “The Beautiful One” will prevail?

Crystal vs. Robynn

Another feat PWR has yet to accomplish is to have a women’s match. At Wrevolution X, they finally can check that item off the list.

Crystal and Robynn have each been in numerous inter-gender matches, showing what they’re made of and proving themselves as worthy as the men to compete in a wrestling ring.

Now, it is both ladies’ time to shine in this friendly competition.

All Out War Match: Rederick Mahaba vs. The Apocalypse

“The Intimate Warrior” may not be fond of breaking hearts, but he might have to break some bones in this hardcore match, where The Apocalypse holds a 4-1 record.

It all started at the Path of Gold brawl in February, when The Apocalypse attacked Mahaba out of nowhere. Rederick suffered a neck injury, but got medical clearance to compete, while costing Apocalypse the PHX Title at PWR Live: Mainit along the way.

It will be a new environment and a major-league gut check for Mahaba in Apocalypse’s sadistic playground.

Bombay Suarez vs. Ken Warren

“The Social Media Sinister” Ken Warren got a bad case of the FOMO (fear of missing out) when he was left off the Wrevolution X poster.

After speaking his mind online, Warren got a place on the poster, but that also means he would compete at the event. PWR GM Mr. Sy then announced his opponent: PWR’s heart and soul, Bombay Suarez!

The (insert B-word here) Killer returns to try shutting Warren up. This is the third-ever singles face-off between the two ex-PHX champions, with one win apiece. Ring rust is a factor that may go against Suarez, a fact that Warren can take advantage of.

Martivo vs. James “Idol” Martinez

Who eliminated James “Idol” Martinez at the multi-person Path of Gold match last February? For the leader of the Network himself, it’s Martivo. (In fact, amid the wild brawl, it’s his own Network downline Chino Guinto who accidentally pinned Martinez.)

Idol made this clear when he distracted Martivo in a PWR Tag Team Title tournament match. At Wrevolution X, “The Man Doll” and the Network boss will settle the score.

Catch all of these matches and more – including Trian dela Torre and Evan Carleaux versus Delirium (Dax Xaviera and Dan Ericson) in the pre-show – at Wrevolution X.

Wrevolution X is on Sunday, April 30, 2 pm, at the Bayanihan Center in Kapitolyo, Pasig City. – Rappler.com
