Ex-Power Rangers star challenges CM Punk for UFC debut
Wrestling and Power Rangers fans will definitely pay good money to see this fight

MANILA, Philippines – Former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar CM Punk received an unexpected challenge from American actor Jason David Frank for his initial assignment as a mixed martial arts (MMA) competitor next year.

CM Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, recently inked an exclusive multi-fight contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) after his surprising departure from WWE this past January.

The announcement was made during the broadcast of UFC 181 pay-per-view last Sunday, December 7 (PH Time).

Since the public confirmation that CM Punk is now part of the UFC roster, numerous fighters used social media to call out the 36-year-old Chicago native, including middleweight contender Michael Bisping.

According to UFC president Dana White, CM Punk will be paired against someone with equal footing in the sport since he has no prizefighting experience under his belt, making Frank a suitable foe for the former WWE titleholder.

Frank, who is notable for his portrayal as Green Ranger Tommy Oliver in the 90’s television show Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, issued a challenge to CM Punk by uploading a photo on his Instagram account.

The 41-year-old Frank, who transitioned from acting to MMA in 2010, boasts an unblemished professional record of 1-0 and a 4-0 win-loss card in the amateur ranks. In addition, all of his wins have come by first-round finishes.

On the other hand, CM Punk is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, who has trained with renowned black belt Rener Gracie.

CM Punk and Frank have discussed the possibility of facing each other in the past as both men took part of the Wizard World convention series nearly two years ago.

When asked by a fan about the idea of locking horns with Frank in an actual MMA bout, CM Punk responded, “Sure, why not.” – Rappler.com
