Gilligan’s, Foton Tornadoes advance to PSL beach volley finals

MANILA, Philippines – Gilligan’s and the Foton Tornadoes advanced to the finals of the PLDT Home Ultera Philippine Superliga Beach Volleyball cup finals with victories in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds on Saturday, August 1, at SM Sands by the Bay.

After beating Len Cortel and Samantha Dawson (Amy’s) in the quarters, 21-14, 21-11, Danica Gendrauli and Norie Jane Diaz (Gilligan’s) took down the duo of Wensh Tiu and Rose Hingpit (Cignal B) in the semis, 21-23, 21-18, 15-3.

The Tornadoes, made up of Patty Orendain and Fiola Ceballos, took care of Aileen Abuel and Rossan Fajardo (Philips Gold), 21-9, 21-12, in the quarters before defeating Bea Tan and Pau Soriano (Foton Hurricanes), 21-18, 21-16, in the semis.

In the men’s division of the tourney, team SM By the Bay A took down CenterStage, 21-13, 21-16, while Champion Infinity B defeated Cignal A, 21-23, 22-20, 15-10 to set up a date in the finals.
