MANILA, Philippines – University of Santo Tomas showed their shooting prowess in the 2013 Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) with a 77-60 drubbing of Letran College on Monday, December 2 at the Ynares Arena in Pasig.

The defending PCCL champions trailed 4-13 early on as Mark Cruz spearheaded a solid start for the Knights. But the Growling Tigers quickly erased that deficit as subs Clark Bautista and Kim Lo led the way. UST took the driver’s seat at the half, 33-32.

The España crew continued the onslaught in the second half. Bautista and Kevin Ferrer waxed hot in the fourth quarter, combining for seven triples to give the Growling Tigers their biggest lead at 77-51.

UST never looked back to seal a rubber match with FEU tomorrow in the final stepladder game of the PCCL. The winner joins Southwestern University, De La Salle University, and San Beda College to complete the round-robin semifinals cast.

Clark Bautista led the Tigers, scoring all but 5 of his 23 points in the second half. He buried 7 of his 13 attempts from long range and dished out 6 assists. – with reports from Levi Verora/Rappler.com
