MANILA, Phillippines — The UAAP has suspended University of the East center Charles Mammie, a memo released by the league said on Thursday, July 11.

The Sierra Leone native was first warned by UAAP Commissioner Chito Loyzaga on July 8, two days after their win over National University where Mammie was caught hitting Jean Mbe with his knee before throwing an elbow to the head of the Bulldogs big man just 8 minutes after.

The league warned Mammie that any action of similar nature would merit a suspension, but the Red Warrior was not deterred.

Just as UE lost to Adamson University on Wedensday, July 10, Mammie was seen “confronting, pushing and kicking” Falcon Roider Cabrera from behind “with the intention to hurt.”

“Since you have received a warning of the similar nature, you are therefore suspended for one official game effective immediately,” Loyzaga penned in the memo.

Mammie will miss their game against University of Santo Tomas on Saturday, July 13.

Loyzaga stressed that players are expected to maintain proper conduct and good behavior in the playing court at all times.

Meanwhile, Cabrera, UE’s Lord Casajeros and NU’s Jeff Javillonar received warnings from the commissioner and like Mammie, will be handed suspensions if they repeat their unsportsmanlike conduct.

Javillonar gained notoriety after ramming into Growling Tiger Jeric Teng, who injured his right shoulder and did not return to the game. – Rappler.com
