MANILA, Philippines — There will be no forfeiture of a won game for Ateneo de Manila University, but its head coach, Bo Perasol, has been ordered by the UAAP Board to serve a one-game suspension, the league announced on Thursday, September 12.

According to Season 76 secretary-treasurer Malou Isip, Perasol will be suspended for being involved in an altercation with La Salle fan JJ Atayde almost two weeks ago.

And because Perasol was in the venue when he was supposed to be suspended against University of the East, the Board is ordering him to sit out the Blue Eagles’ do-or-die game against University of Santo Tomas on September 18.

“Coach Bo was in the game venue when he was supposed to be serving his suspension,” Isip said. “That is why the board decided that he should be serving the penalty.”

Isip stressed the Board is not imposing a second suspension on Perasol, but merely ordering him to serve the ban.

Ateneo and UE representatives to the Board did not join the deliberation held today at the Casa Espanol in Manila, where 5 victories by the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws were forfeited because one its players, Vangie Soriano, played in a commercial league during the season. – Rappler.com
