MANILA, Philippines — Terrence Romeo is the new UAAP MVP.

The Far Eastern University guard topped all seniors players in statistical points (SPs) to emerge as the Most Valuable Player of the 76th UAAP men’s basketball tournament.

According to statistics by Imperium Technologies, Romeo scored a total of 75.2857 SPs to narrowly edge University of the East’s Charles Mammie, who had 75.0000 SPs.

However, even if Mammie surpasses Romeo in SPs, the Red Warrior big man would not have been eligible for the award because of two suspensions he incurred during the season.

Two-time MVP Ray Parks of National University finished 3rd with 73.8571 points while University of Santo Tomas’ Karim Abdul was 4th with 70.9286 SPs.

Roi Sumang, who missed UE’s last two games, still ended up in the top 5 with 64.0000 SPs.

Romeo, who was in the Season 75 Mythical Team, averaged 22.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals to lead the league in points and steals while finishing 3rd in assists.

Bulldog Jean Mbe (63.5714), De La Salle University frontcourt duo Jason Perkins (58.5000) and Jeron Teng (58.2857), Ateneo de Manila University wingman Chris Newsome (55.7143) and Green Archer sniper Almond Vosotros (55.0714) round out the top 10. – Rappler.com
