Former Blue Eagle Jerie Pingoy transfers to Adamson
Pingoy is excited to play in the system of Adamson head coach Franz Pumaren

MANILA, Philippines – Former Ateneo Blue Eagle guard Jerie Pingoy has transferred to Adamson University where he will play for the Soaring Falcons in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament, head coach Franz Pumaren confirmed to Rappler on Thursday, June 23.

Pingoy, a former star of FEU’s high school team in the UAAP junior division, served two years residency for switching UAAP schools from high school to college before playing his first season with Ateneo in 2015.

But after failing to meet ADMU’s required passing grade for student athletes that would have kept him out for the upcoming UAAP season, Pingoy elected to transfer to Adamson where Pumaren, a 5-time UAAP champion coach, will handle his first season with the Falcons.

In his only UAAP season with the Blue Eagles, Pingoy averaged 4 points and 2.9 assists a game but played in only 7 contests due to an ankle injury. The 5’9 point guard will have to serve another year of residency for transferring colleges and will suit up for the Soaring Falcons in 2017.

According to Pumaren, Pingoy enrolled at Adamson on Thursday morning and had expressed his excitement to play under the head coach’s fast-paced and press-oriented system.

Pumaren coached many players during his time at La Salle who went on to play in the PBA, with two of those guys, Mike Cortez (2003) and JVee Casio (2011), getting selected number one overall in the PBA Draft as guards.
