FEU rips Adamson to secure playoff for Final Four spot

MANILA, Philippines – The FEU Lady Tamaraws swept the Adamason Lady Falcons, 25-20, 25-21, 25-18, to secure at least a playoff for a Final Four ticket in the UAAP Season 77 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday, February 21 at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Bernadeth Pons and Mary Joy Palma led the Lady Tamaraws’ charge with 12 points apiece, with Palma spearheading FEU’s tough net defense with 4 blocks.

Geneveve Casugod chipped in 10 markers as FEU tied UST for fourth place with a 6-8 record ending the elimination round.

The UP Lady Maroons (5-8) could also join the log jam for fourth place if they win versus the NU Lady Bulldogs on Sunday, February 22.

If UP loses, UST and FEU will have a playoff for the last Final Four ticket. But in the event of a 3-way tie, the two teams with inferior quotient will battle in a knockout match before going up against the team with the superior quotient for the right to play in the Final Four.

Unlike the first match, the Lady Falcons put up a gallant stand versus the Lady Tamaraws, not wanting to end their season on a low note.

But with only Mylene Paat carrying the scoring load with her 11 points, Adamson dropped their last game of the season and finished at 5-9.
