SINGAPORE – There was no shortage of adrenaline and action at this year’s Southeast Asian Major (SEAM), the region’s premier fighting game competition held here from October 7 to 9, 2016.

A major highlight of GameStart Asia and co-presented by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the stakes were especially high for Street Fighter V players – a chance to qualify for the Capcom Pro Tour whose prize pool stands at $500,000. The tournament was naturally loaded with top level players such as Yusuke “Momochi” Momochi, Lee “Infiltration” Seon Woo, Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi to name some.

But the action didn’t stop there. The major also featured high level tourneys for Tekken 7, Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator,  King of Fighters XIV, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, and Blazblue: Central Fiction.

Here’s a full list of results:

Street Fighter V – SEAM Capcom Pro Tour

Japan’s Tokido dominated SEAM’s highlight Street Fighter V tournament in a jaw-dropping 5-round battle against fellow Japanese, Momochi, winning a prize pool of US $15,000. He also won a trip and a qualifying spot to the Capcom Cup in San Francisco, USA later this year.

It’s also worth noting that Philippine’s own Donal “PBE Don” Gimperoso  and Andrew “IPT.Dru” Martinez both made it within the top 32.

BlazBlue: Central Fiction

Imperium Pro Team’s Alden “IPT Alden” Jacob was able to overcome the challenge of ‘having to compete with a relatively new character’ and rise as the tournament’s top BlazBlue: Central Fiction player.

IPT Alden is the tournament's top Guilty Gear Xrd Revelation play.

In an interview with Rappler after the game, IPT Alden admitted that the update from BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma to BlazBlue: Central Fiction caused major changes with his character μ-12 – forcing him to start from scratch.

Filipino players dominated the Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator‘s Southeast Asian-only leg, Toushinsai Qualifier, with PlayBook’s Mark Anthony ‘PBENoob’ Casing taking the lead. Unfortunately PBENoob fell short of putting down Korean champion ‘Dura’ to win a free trip to and qualify for the Toushinsai Tournament in Japan. – Rappler.com
