Twitter says its most recent app update is meant to make it easy to share and edit photos

MANILA, Philippines – Twitter annnounced the arrival of “friendlier photo sharing” with the release of an updated Android app on Tuesday, January 28. The update allows users to crop a photo arbitrarily, select from either a wide or square aspect ratio or rotate their photos.

While the crop option has been available for a while now, users wanting to crop could only zoom in and/or position a photo inside a box with a fixed aspect ratio depending on its original orientation.

After a photo is attached, users are also given a reminder to tag people in the photo.

Twitter says the update will come to iOS soon.

The update also attempts to help users discover more content. When a user pulls down on the home timeline to refresh and there are no new Tweets to load recommended tweets, trending topics, or suggestions for new accounts to follow appear. We were not able to get the feature to work on our Android smartphone and have reached out to Twitter to see if the feature is available in the Philippines. – Rappler.com
