1) From the article My Little Bossings: The horrible business of showbusiness

Zig Marasigan’s review of this Metro Manila Film Festival favorite rattled many Ryzza Mae fans, and brought out the culture critic in quite a few others. What’s your take on the local film industry?

Lesline Anne: i think the writer is just saying that it’s time for the filipino movie industry to level-up. For me, kaya nabobobo ang pilipino dahil sa mga ganitong pelikula.

2) From the article Why I’m never having children, and that’s okay

One writer reveals her desire to remain childless, and while others lauded her, others found the decision morally wrong. What do you think?

Len Recio: I am a mother and i love every moment of it. Not a single poop or projectile vomit will make me think otherwise. However, parenthood is not for everybody. You got my respect for choosing not to have any. There’s nothing wrong with that. Screw what society thinks, you do what is best for you. As long as you’re not doing yourself nor anyone else around you any harm, everyone can just mind their own shit. All the best!

3) From the article Should Commonwealth be renamed Erano Manalo Ave?

Renaming Commonwealth Avenue after the late leader of the Iglesia ni Cristo raised a lot of eyebrows, and brought the question of secularism to light. Would you be okay with the renaming?

Joseph Guillermo: The renaming of “Commonwealth” (an express reference to the ideals our Republic strives to achieve) in favor of a leader of vocal minority is very telling on the priorities of our present politics.

4) From the article My Little Bossings: The horrible business of showbusiness

We told you Zig’s review was hot stuff!

Iris Castro: I respect the writer’s opinion. But I reckon, film viewers also have the right to choose which among these films to watch. Movie goers were not forced to watch My Little Bossings, it was their own will. And I guess, there was no “masquerading” in the intentions of the film producers. It’s pretty obvious that they (Kris and Vic and other producers) decided to match Ryzza and Bimby for another yet obvious reason – they are both bankable especially the former. Although I know, this movie is not the best comedy film ever but people still chose to watch it to be entertained not to be educated. Just saying.

5) From the article Public servants, take the train!

More and more Filipinos are getting tired of the subpar commuting options in Metro Manila, and dare their public officials to experience what they do on a daily basis. Do you think improvements will come anytime soon?

Kathrina Iris: A developed country is not a place where the poor have cars. It’s where the rich use public transportation.”
– Gustavo Petro, Mayor of Bogotá

Hahh. I wish to experience this…. in the Philippines… in my lifetime.
