Google, Disney team up for Star Wars tie-in
The tweaks to the various Google products make up Google and Disney's 'Awaken the Force Within' campaign

MANILA, Philippines – Google users will now be able to choose between the light and dark sides of the force when they use Google’s services on their desktops.

Google announced on Monday, November 23, that it reached out to Lucasfilm and Disney to come up with some Star Wars-themed easter eggs in a number of Google products as part of the “Awaken the Force Within” campaign.

To check out the Star Wars-themed versions of Google’s popular apps, go to google.com/starwars and choose to join the light side or the dark side to let your Google applications load a bunch easter eggs that fit the theme you’ve chosen.

For instance, in Gmail, not only will the loading bar become a blue or red lightsaber to coincide with the sides of the force, your background will also change according to your allegiance.

Google Maps, Chrome Themes, YouTube, Google Calendar, Google Now, and Chromecast Backdrop Collection will also get their own easter egg features.

Meanwhile, other Google properties – Waze, Google Translate, and the Android Wear Watch Face – will have their own Star Wars related tweaks rolling out. Rappler.com
