MANILA, Philippines – Messaging service WhatsApp quietly rolled out a new feature on Android and iOS on Wednesday, March 2, allowing users to send documents to one another via the application.

At present, users can only send PDF documents to one another via the new feature.

To share a PDF, simply go to the chat interface of the person you want to share a document with, then tap on the attachment button. The latest version of WhatsApp will have a new option to share a document with the other person.

Android Authority added that the sharing of PDF files requires the sender and receiver to both have the latest version of the app. Trying to share a PDF file with someone without the latest version will bring a notification saying the other person needs to update WhatsApp to receive documents.

The curious use of the sharing of “documents” on the WhatsApp interface points to additional file types being supported in the future, and it would certainly be a welcome sight to see more file types available for sharing. – Rappler.com
