Facebook sorry for pushing Pakistan Safety Check worldwide
While Safety Check is a feature that is meant to ask people in Pakistan to check in and let others know they are okay, it seems the location-based feature misfired

MANILA, Philippines – Facebook apologized on Sunday, March 27 (March 28 Manila time) after its Facebook Safety Check feature sent notifications around the world in the wake of a bombing in Lahore, Pakistan.

While Safety Check is a feature that was meant to ask people in Pakistan to check in and let others know they are okay, it seems the location-based feature had a misfire.

The Safety Check feature was activated for some people nowhere near Pakistan.

A Facebook spokesperson released an apology, saying, “We have activated Safety Check in Lahore. We apologize to anyone who mistakenly received a notification outside of Pakistan and are working to resolve the issue.”

The deadly blast erupted in a parking lot of a crowded park in Lahore, killing at least 65 people and wounding hundreds. – Rappler.com
