MANILA, Philippines – Sony is celebrating the sale of quite a large number of PlayStation 4 (PS4) units ahead of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June.

The company released a statement on Thursday, May 26, saying that the PS4 “has cumulatively sold more than 40 million units to consumers worldwide as of May 22.”

This makes the PS4 the fastest-selling PlayStation console, with digital and retail software sales following suit. More than 270.9 million copies of PS4 software have been sold as of May 22. (READ: Uncharted 4 video game for PS4 snapped up worldwide)
