MANILA, Philippines – It may be time to dig up the old MySpace credentials you created. MySpace confirmed on Tuesday, May 31 (June 1 in Manila), that stolen Myspace user login data “was being made available in an online hacker forum.”

According to MySpace, the stolen data came from a portion of accounts made before June 11, 2013. This is prior to a reboot of the platform which enabled enhanced security features.

A report from LeakedSource.com said over 360 million accounts were part of the breach, with records having an email address, password, and a second password in certain instances.

MySpace believes the data breach is attributable to Russian cyberhacker “Peace”, who also appeared to be responsible for other attacks on LinkedIn and Tumblr.

The site has invalidated all user passwords for the affected accounts made before June 11, 2013 on the old MySpace platform. Returning users will be asked to authenticate their account and reset their password.

MySpace also said it is working with law enforcement as the case is still being investigated. – Rappler.com
