MANILA, Philippines – PLDT chairman Manny V. Pangilinan handily pushed away some of the gloom the country has been experiencing the past days with a little announcement: Smart and TNT subcribers will be getting free data for the hit mobile game, Pokemon Go.

The telcom boss made the announcement on Twitter, Saturday, August 13. 

You asked, we listened. We’ll bring back FREE Pokémon GO for all Smart and TNT subscribers from Aug 14-Sept 15. No catch, no fine print!

“No catch, no fine print,” said Pangilinan. 

On the other hand, Globe’s free data offer was announced 6 hours earlier on Twitter. It came with the requirement of having to download the data usage tracking app “Globe Switch.” The promo will start 7 days later than the Smart offer, and will be capped at 1 gigabyte.
