MANILA, Philippines – Samsung revealed a new wearable device called the Samsung Gear Fit at the 2014 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
The Gear Fit looks to improve upon Samsung’s Galaxy Gear, providing comprehensive fitness tools with functions that allow it to sync to Galaxy smartphones and receive notifications via Bluetooth 4.0 LE.
Samsung’s Gear Fit comes with a pedometer, exercise monitor, heart rate and sleep monitors, a stopwatch and timer. Aside from notifications, the system allows users to control their media and schedule events.
The device features a 1.84-inch curved Super AMOLED display with a changeable strap – either in black, orange or mocha grey. It is also dust and water resistant, and has can last 3 to 4 days with normal use.
“Samsung understands that the next generation of wearable mobile solutions must directly reflect of the diverse interests and needs of consumers,” notes JK Shin, CEO and President of IT and Mobile Division for Samsung Electronics.
“In response,” he added, “our Gear product portfolio continues to expand with unique devices for a wide range of lifestyles, including the new Gear Fit designed to help those consumers striving to live more fit and active lives without sacrificing their own personal style or their ability to stay connected on the go.”
