MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines is one of the first markets in the world to get Microsoft’s latest budget Windows Phone, the Nokia Lumia 630. The new smartphone was announced at a casual sit-down launch event at The Mango Tree in Bonifacio Global City on Tuesday, May 13. 

The Lumia 630 (dual-SIM) will retail for P7990 when it goes on sale later in May. The entry-level Lumia will also be available in other emerging markets including India. 

Announced at Microsoft’s Build Conference in San Francisco last April, the Lumia 630 is the first Lumia smartphone with a dual-SIM variant and one of the first to run the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system.  It is also the first Nokia phone to go on sale since the acqusiton of Nokia’s smartphone business by Microsoft last April 2014.

The smartphone features a 4.5-inch, Clear Black display (with Gorilla Glass 3) and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon S400 processor, 512MB RAM, and 8GB of storage. All phones come with a 7GB One Drive cloud storage account and Microsoft Office. 

New features in Windows 8.1 include virtual assistant Cortana, a 3rd column of live tiles, Action Center, a faster keyboard and customizable backgrounds.  Rappler.com
