Microsoft OneDrive ups storage, lowers prices
Microsoft increases free storage space for OneDrive users and Office 365 users, and slashes prices for subscriptions

MANILA, Philippines – Whether you’re a new OneDrive user or a long-standing fan of the service, you’ll find OneDrive a more tempting storage option with a range of upgrades to users’ storage capacities.

An announcement on OneDrive’s blog points to the changes that have been made to the storage allotments for OneDrive users and Office365 users.

First, OneDrive users will now have 15GB of free storage, up from 7GB of storage. This change puts OneDrive’s storage offerings in line with Google Drive’s, making it an excellent alternative or additional location to place documents and media in.

Apple offers iCloud users only 5GB of free storage with upgrades costing $20/year for 10GB, $40/year for 20GB and $100/year for 50GB.

Second, Office 365 Users will also receive storage upgrades, with all users getting 1TB of storage. This 1TB storage allotment is the same for Office 365 Home users, or Personal and University-type subscribers as well.

Lastly, OneDrive is also slashing prices for added storage space. Notes the announcement, “The new monthly prices will be $1.99 for 100 GB (previously $7.49) and $3.99 for 200 GB (previously $11.49).”

While these updates will take effect next month, current OneDrive subscribers will automatically get lowered prices for succeeding months. – Rappler.com
