MANILA, Philippines – Electronics maker Oppo has come out with a new device that aims to beat the competition by shattering old records.

The company announced the R5 smartphone on Wednesday, October 29, taking note of the R5’s 4.85mm thinness as a selling point.

The R5 is equipped with a 2.1GHz octa-core Qualcomm processor and comes with a 5.2-inch AMOLED screen, 16GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, a 13 megapixel rear camera, and a 5 megapixel front camera.

The Oppo R5 runs on ColorOS, a modified version of Android.

Other features announced included a hand-polished shape which they call the Micro-Arc Frame – meant to fit perfectly in people’s hands.

Also of note is the “Cool Element” heat dissipation technology for protecting the central processing unit, preventing overheating.
