Announced Wednesday, January 7, at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the August Connect is a device that augments the abilities of the August Smart Lock, a keyless lock system that uses connects your smartphone or computer to your front door’s lock.

Once plugged into an available power outlet near the Smart Lock, the Connect links your smart lock to your home’s WiFi system.

This functionality allows for additional remote access features on the Smart Lock, such as checking the status of the lock and operating the lock remotely from August’s management application. You can also use it allow people you trust into your home without needing to be physically at the door or near the house.
