MANILA, Philippines – Smart Communications announced Thursday, July 16, that it will be hosting the Philippine Clash 2015, a Clash of Clans tournament with P2 million in prizes for winning participants.

Clash of Clans players are tasked with forming their own clans, strengthening their fortifications against assault, and taking over enemy territories to expand their land and earn more gold, elixirs, and gems.

Smart will be teaming up with the Philippine eSports Organization, Inquirer eSports, SM Cyberzone, and the Philippine Clash of Clans Battleground in order to host the event.

The company has also invited representatives from Supercell, the company behind Clash of Clans, as well as YouTube personalities Chief Pat and Galadon to attend and watch the tourney.

“It is just about time we put together the country’s biggest COC tournament and provide a venue for players and fans alike to showcase their skills in the spirit of friendly competition,” said Mellissa Limcaoco, head of Smart’s Innovation and Product Development Group.

“This is very much a part of our push to elevate gaming into a form of competitive sports, extolling good values like discipline and teamwork in a fun-filled arena,” she added.

Open to all Smart Prepaid, Postpaid and Smart Bro subscribers, the tournament will have several elimination legs in key cities all over the country, including Baguio, Batangas, Cebu, Davao, and Metro Manila.

These elimination legs will end in one big final clash in October.

The full mechanics of the competition and details of the event will be unveiled soon, and interested teams may visit the tournament’s official site for further information. – Rappler.com
