MANILA, Philippines – Viber has launched “Public Accounts,” which will allow businesses, brands, and public figures to engage with the messaging app’s more than 800 million registered users in a way that is “personal, intuitive and seamless.”
Viber said in a press release that through Public Accounts, it is now offering solutions for businesses, brands, and public figures to engage with their audiences through various 1-on-1 chat options or social broadcasting on a single platform.
“On Viber, people already connect securely and freely with their families, friends and colleagues. Today, we are introducing a way for people to start connecting with businesses, too,” said Viber COO Michael Shmilov.
“The first set of tools will enable businesses to reach their audience on Viber using messaging and rich interfaces, which can be tailored to the various needs of any business,” he added.
Viber has 26 million registered users in the Philippines.
How it works
As a channel that encourages both engagement and personal connections, Public Accounts can be used across sales, marketing and support teams, and for announcements, Viber said.
“Once a Public Account is created, the admin and participants are given the tools to communicate in an easy, direct, and personalized way with their audience, bringing the brand’s personality to life,” said Viber.
It added that this includes the opportunity to message their followers in a number of different ways: through their existing CRM, and manually through one-on-one live chats or chatbots.
Public Accounts also provides the following tools:
- Discovery channels to easily find businesses
- Direct integration through Viber’s API
- Communicate at scale through Public Chats
Public Accounts is available worldwide, with partners like The Huffington Post, Yandex, and The Weather Channel which will introduce their solutions soon, Viber said. – Rappler.com
