MANILA, Philippines – Seattle-based Filipino professional commercial and theater actress Heather Gonio sent Rappler a video of her singing a cover of Adele’s award-winning song “Skyfall”, dedicated to the victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan), that hit Central Philippines on November 8, 2013.

“My heart has been aching about the tragedies of the earthquake and Yolanda. This is a musical and video tribute I made in honor of the victims,” says Heather. The other half of her family resides in Bohol and Cebu, provinces which have also been affected by the super typhoon.

“I’m sharing this with as many online communities as I can to spread awareness and my artistic message of hope and strength that the Filipino people will always have,” she says.

The producer and program manager at Microsoft says this song is dedicated to “all those who made it through the storm, and the lost souls who couldn’t.”
