Li, who arrived in India on Sunday afternoon (May 19), chose Delhi for his first foreign visit since taking office
MANILA, Philippines - With the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI effective end-February, speculation over who could be the next pope was already in full swing in Rome just hours after the announcement, although even seasoned observers cautioned that predictions on future popes are notoriously unreliable.
The field appears wide open, with some saying the papacy could return to an Italian for the first time since 1978, and others predicting it could go to a North American. Others also say Africa or Asia could yield the next pope.
