JAKARTA, Indonesia – It is no coincidence the parents of slain international racing champ Enzo Pastor are in Indonesia, the same time as Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s state visit.

The Pastors are here to ask for Duterte’s help to find their daughter-in-law, the alleged killer of their son. Duterte is in Indonesia to meet Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday, September 9.

Dalia Guerrero-Pastor, wife of Enzo, is said to be hiding in Indonesia after the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 91 ordered her arrest over the killing of her husband in June 2014. She was placed on the wanted list of the international police organization Interpol in 2015.

Tomas Pastor, the father of Enzo, says there have been previous sightings of her in Jakarta and Bali, with the latest being in Flores, an island in Indonesia in March 2015. Dalia is said to have changed her hair to blonde, and is now sporting a black do.

Tomas said he is “hopeful” Duterte can bring up their concern with Jokowi, and ask for his help to capture Dalia. The couple also prepared a letter for Jokowi, pleading for his assistance.

Coddled

Tomas said Dalia is being coddled by a certain Ruben Reyes, 71, who was her neighbor in Wack-Wack Village in the Philippines, before they moved here. Reyes, he said, is well protected in Indonesia.

“Ruben Reyes is connected to the (Indonesian) Vice President. He has a business mining coal. So the military bodyguards are from the presidential staff. So the president, if they ask about him, they’ll recognize him,” he said on Thursday, September 8.

“We’ll take it up tomorrow for the Palace to ask Jokowi.“

She has since changed her name to Amanda Maragit, and is now using fraudulent documents to stay in Indonesia. The older Pastor said that according to Interpol, Dalia flew to Tawi-Tawi, then Sabah, and from there flew to Jakarta with her real passport. At that time, there was no warrant of arrest against her yet. 

Dalia is charged with parricide for allegedly conniving with businessman Domingo “Sandy” de Guzman to kill Enzo on June 12, 2014.

De Guzman and the alleged gunman, Police Officer Edgar Angel, face murder charges.

Angel, who first admitted to the killing but later recanted, earlier identified Dalia and De Guzman as masterminds in Pastor’s murder.

The international car racer was killed at the corner of Congressional and Visayas avenues in Quezon City while on his way to a competition in Pampanga. He sustained gunshot wounds in the head, neck, and arms.

In a resolution last February 2015, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said that while there was no evidence that Dalia and De Guzman were directly involved in the murder, there was “interlocking circumstantial evidence that would point to their complicity in the commission of the crime.”

The resolution also cited the affidavit of Chona Domen, the househelp of the Pastors, who detailed what she knew about the affair that the suspects were having. – Rappler.com
