24-year-old behind porn on videotron admits he did it for fun
Here's how the cops tracked down who was responsible for streaming an adult film in public

JAKARTA, Indonesia – It appears that it was a 24-year-old man that was responsible for the notorious porn streamed on a videotron in Jakarta traffic.

On Tuesday, October 4, police arrested the suspect from his office in Senopati, Central Jakarta, a man who was only identified by his initials SAR.

Chief of Metro Jaya Police Inspector General M Iriawan said police managed to track down the suspect, a data analysis employee, based on the username that he used.

“There’s a clue that referred to the suspect, according to the video in Jalan Senopati. Then we conducted a raid, from which we found a computer. We found out who operated the computer at the time of the incident,” he said.

Based on the investigation so far, SAR supposedly admitted to his actions, and claims he just did it for fun.

On Friday, September 30, social media erupted after a videotron in Jakarta showed an adult movie, shocking commuters stuck in traffic. Locals soon started to post photos and videos of the clip on social media, causing #videotron to trend on Twitter.

The 24-square meter videotron in Jalan Prapanca, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, started streaming a porn video featuring an Asian woman.

In the video, the woman is first seen with a man and later, the two engaging in sexual acts, with the woman seen making erotic facial expressions.

Upon receiving reports from residents, the Jakarta Provincial Government immediately cut off the screen’s power. The film streamed for about 5 minutes before it was taken down.

Indonesia is the most populous Muslim-majority nation in the world, where sex is a generally taboo subject of discussion.

Shortly after the incident, the company renting the videotron said the adult movie was a result of a hack. But the police were not as quick to jump on board the idea that it was indeed a hack that caused the incident.

‘He’s good’

Iriawan said the suspect is an expert in the field of IT and computers.

“We can say he’s a hacker or not. He’s certainly a computer analyst. An IT expert. If he said he did it unintentionally, we wouldn’t believe him because he’s an expert at what he does. His username is not on the videotron, but he knows [how to play the video] – that means he’s good,” Iriawan said.

According to Iriawan, the police found the location of the perpetrator on Saturday, October 1, but was not able to do a search and arrest because it needed to wait for the court’s permission.

During the arrest, police confiscated one laptop and a mobile phone allegedly used by the perpetrator while uploading the video.

“At the moment he is still undergoing investigation for cyber crime,” he said.

Iriawan added that the suspect could posisbly be charged under Article 282 of the Criminal Code and Article 27 paragraph 1 of the IT Law, which could mean a penalty of up to 7 years imprisonment and a fine of Rp 15 billion ($1.1M). – Rappler.com
