Miss Indonesia Kezia Warouw is among the top picks to win Miss Universe 2016. Watch Rappler's exclusive interview with the beauty queen.

JAKARTA, Indonesia — Miss Indonesia Kezia Roslin Cikita Warouw is one of the top contenders for this year’s Miss Universe.

Leading beauty pageant website Missosology, in a blog it published last year, picked Kezia as one of its hot picks for Miss Universe 2016, writing, “Indonesia has been flourishing well at the major international beauty pageants lately! When Kezia Roslin Warouw was crowned as Puteri Indonesia, the beauty-sphere was inundated with rave reviews about her.”

“It is thus not a surprise that Missosology covered the pageant well because we have a strong feeling that the next Miss Universe might be from Indonesia!,” it added.

The 25-year-old who is known for her height — 183-cm or 6 ft tall – also won a special award for Best Smile during the Mindanao Tapestry Fashion Show in Davao City.

Being Miss Universe Indonesia has always been a dream for Kezia since she was a little girl. Even though she was busy in school and at work, she still managed to pursue her modeling career.

Her manager, Terry Solang, was the one who motivated Kezia to compete in Puteri Indonesia, the pageant that selects Indonesia’s representative for Miss Universe.

“My manager knew that I’ve always wanted to compete in Puteri Indonesia. And when the registration opened in North Sulawesi, he called me,” Kezia told Rappler in an exclusive interview before she went to the Philippines for Miss Universe.

After she was crowned as Puteri Indonesia last February, Kezia said she has enjoyed traveling around Indonesia as well as meeting new people. She hopes that this experience can help her introduce the beauty of Indonesia to all the contestants of Miss Universe.

“It is my duty to introduce and welcome them to enjoy what we have in Indonesia,” she said.

Aside from her busy schedule as an ambassador for Indonesia, Kezia also prepared for Miss Universe by training for public speaking, English, as well as fitness training. She also learned how to do hair and make up as she is expected to do everything by herself in Miss Universe.

“Because we are alone when competing in Miss Universe, we have to learn how to do hair and make up, because we have to do everything by ourselves.”
