At 3 meters, the python is the same length as half of an adult giraffe

JAKARTA, Indonesia – A python was found in a busy area in Jakarta, where many expats live, on Tuesday, October 4.

At 3 meters, the python is the same length as half of an adult giraffe.

The large snake was found outside The Colony, Kemang, South Jakarta, a modern establishment that houses stores and restaurants.

On Tuesday afternoon, rain poured in Jakarta, flooding roads. The python was found after the flooding receded. Along with the snake, a one-meter lizard was also found in the same area.

A public maintenance officer told local media that the snake was transported by the rains.

“The snake was swept here by the flood. It was in one of the sewers,” said Burhanuddin, who like many Indonesians only go by one name.

The snake was found dead and taken to the district office of Mampang Prapatan.

Also found in the area was a large lizard.
