Patient kills doctor, commits suicide at Berlin hospital

BERLIN, Germany (3rd UPDATE) – A patient shot and killed a doctor before turning the gun on himself at a Berlin hospital on Tuesday, July 26, police said, adding there was no sign the incident was a terrorist attack.

Police said the shooter was a 72-year-old German man who had been treated Monday at a university hospital in the well-heeled southwestern Steglitz neighborhood.

He returned Tuesday and opened fire on a doctor before committing suicide.

A police spokeswoman told AFP there was “no indication this was a terror attack”.

Berlin police later tweeted that the 55-year-old German doctor had died of his wounds.

The shooting came with Germany already on edge after 4 brutal attacks in the south of the country.
