About Alice Sarmiento

Alice Sarmiento is an animal welfare advocate and feminist with a practice in writing, art criticism, and curation.

She finished her Bachelor’s degree in Clothing Technology at the University of the Philippines and went on to teach at the same program for four years while obtaining her Master’s in Curatorial Studies at the same University. She has also completed fellowships in curation from the Japan Foundation Asia Center, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, as well as in Cultural Journalism from the Akademie Schloss-Solitude.

Alice is also an adoption counselor for the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and among the directors of Best Friends Furever Sanctuary, Inc. (BFFS), the Philippines first retirement facility for senior and specially-abled companion animals.
