About Chito de la Vega

Chito joined Rappler as senior editor in 2017. Prior to that he had a 32-year stint with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, where he started as a sportswriter. Upon his retirement, he was editor in chief of Inquirer Libre, a free newspaper, deputy director of the Inquirer Central Desk, and co-anchor of the daily radio news program, Partners, on DZIQ 990AM Radyo Inquirer.

He also teaches part-time at the Department of Communication of the Ateneo de Manila University.

He graduated with a degree in Communication Arts from the University of Santo Tomas. He obtained his master's degree as a Konrad Adenauer Stiftung fellow from the Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo.

Along the way, he was among the founders of the Philippine Daily Inquirer Employees’ Union (of which he later became president) and also one of the pioneers and later became president of the PBA Press Corps. He was a former member of the National Press Club and the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas. At present he is a volunteer of Hands On Manila.
