Sofia Tomacruz is a multimedia reporter at Rappler covering foreign affairs, the overseas Filipino workers, and elections. Before that, she covered health and education. She also writes stories on the treatment of women and children.
Before becoming a reporter, Sofia worked as a researcher-writer at Rappler’s investigative and business sections.
In 2017, she and Ana Santos were awarded the International Labour Organization’s Global Media Award for their series on schemes to recruit migrant Filipino workers, which mired many in a lifetime of debt.
Sofia graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in communication and minor in literature.
Her hobbies include cooking and practicing Barre3.
