Conversation: Embracing your #RealBeauty

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – When was the last time you felt beautiful?

That was probably not long ago. But here’s another question: when did you last declare (through words, social media, or anything) that “I am beautiful?”

For many women, there’s a marked difference between their opinion of themselves and the manifestation of how they look to the rest of the world. Some women are relaxed and confident when they’re at home. But when they need to step out, they worry about what their colleagues – and society – think about their appearance.

But we think that feeling beautiful outside your personal space is just as important, because it’s a step towards true confidence and self-acceptance – without fearing what other people might say.

We want more women to be empowered to love themselves – to truly accept who they are, flaws and all, without the need to cover up, tweak, or alter. After all, real beauty is about nurturing what you already have.

So let’s talk about it.

On Tuesday, April 2, Rappler and Dove held a conversation about beauty: how you define it, how you enjoy it, and most importantly, how you take care of it.

We want to know: what makes you feel beautiful? Who was the last person you called “beautiful?” How important is it to feel beautiful as you try to realize your dreams and goals in life?

This conversation happened as Dove celebrates real beauty and real care with the first ever Dove Summit, which will happen from April 2-3 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza. This two-day event gathered real women for sessions on realization, self-discovery, and encouragement to embrace one’s real beauty.
