Why don’t you feel beautiful?
This social experiment tries to prove that beauty is all in the mind

MANILA, Philippines – If you were given a “treatment” that promises to make you feel more beautiful, would you try it?

Recently, Dove conducted a social experiment where women did just that.

Watch below:

Feeling beautiful: it matters

The video illustrated how beauty is a state of mind. The power to feel beautiful comes from within.

Why is it important to change the way women feel about their beauty anyway?

“When a woman feels beautiful, she radiates happiness and confidence, which inspires her life in a significant way,” said Dr. Kearney-Cooke in the video.

Today, many women admit to wearing make-up or altering their physiques to feel attractive. But these are not tantamount to truly feeling good about one’s looks.

Throughout the video, it’s evident how not feeling beautiful leads to low self-esteem, and affects other elements of the women’s lives.

Inner beauty still counts. But that doesn’t mean women shouldn’t enjoy and love their physical features.

More women need to feel beautiful

The video was also inspired by a recent Dove-commissioned study that sought to uncover “The Real Truth About Beauty.”

The study revealed a worrying statistic: only 7% of Filipinas think they’re beautiful.

It seems that despite our country being dubbed as the “selfie” capital of the world, most Filipinas are still not truly comfortable with flaunting their beauty – in its most natural state.

Dove invites all women to create a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety.  When women look and feel their best, they feel happier.

It is important for women to see the beauty in themselves so that they can inspire the next generation, and end the cycle of beauty being dependent on what others think.

Take a good look at what you have. Do you feel beautiful? It’s time to accept what you have. Love it. Learn to take care of it.

Do you agree with the 7% statistic? How will you try to change it? Let us know. – Rappler.com
