CONVERSATION: How do you #DefineLuxury?

MANILA, Philippines – When you watch TV shows or read magazines where people invest in art and designer furnishings for their homes, do you find yourself aspiring for the same lifestyle? When you hear of people that go on grand vacations abroad, do you aim for similar luxurious experiences too?

Luxury is often linked with privilege and extravagance whether it is with material possessions or a particular way of life. They are not easy to acquire or achieve, which is part of their allure. But luxury can also go beyond spending money. Quality time with your family, having the means and the time to learn new things and have enriching experiences are luxuries as well.

How you define luxury is also a matter of time and perspective. With a younger person it might be just about a brand or a label, but a more mature person might equate luxury with craftsmanship and quality. In the same manner that life experiences such as exploring the world is enriching, investing in a stable future through investments is also a worthy endeavor.

For a lot of people, having the means to provide a good life for their family and parents, investing in a home or having a career that can support them until retirement is a dream come true. Perhaps living out your dreams and being able to share it with loved ones might just be the ultimate luxury.
