The telco launched a quarterly unveiling of their latest innovations and offers last July 13

MANILA, Philippines – The logo isn’t the only thing that’s new with Smart Communications.

The telco had its first Smart Unbox last July 13, 2016 at Shangri-la, BGC. It represents their rekindled passion to continue to change the way Filipinos connect and enrich their passions through their digital life.

“Smart has built a legacy of bringing mobile innovations into the life of all Filipinos, and with the digital wave upon us, we have come up with innovative products and services to bring the real-life benefits of connectivity to as many Filipinos as possible,” said PLDT and Smart Chairman and CEO Manny V. Pangilinan during the July 13 launch held at Shangri-la in the Fort.

New and improved digital products

Among the new products launched were the Smartphone Prepaid Kit, available for only P1,288. Everyone can now enjoy hours of games, videos, and useful apps in an affordable smartphone. This can be paired with the new Smart Bro Pocket Wifi available at P888.

And because speed and size are also important, Smart announced their new Super Speed LTE Sims. Then there’s Giga Surf 50, a new prepaid promo that offers 1GB of open access data for surfing and apps, plus additional 300MB for video streaming on YouTube and iflix, all valid for 3 days at only P50. If 1GB is more than enough for you, it’s also now possible to give your friends and family data through Pasadata.

Updated customer services

Smart also announced their new partnership with Twitter, which they’re using to further enhance the customer experience. Through their account @SMARTCares, customers can expect live feedback and faster responses.

They also introduced Marty the Smarty, who will be the go-to guy for all kinds of questions and concerns about mobile data and the Internet. Through his website www.martythesmarty.com or Twitter handle @askmartysmarty, he will answer any and every question about subscribers’ mobile data usage, and also provide helpful tips to maximize Smart’s data offers.

The My Smart mobile app isn’t left behind with all the updates. Now, prepaid and postpaid subscribers can manage their accounts 24/7, anytime, anywhere. Subscribers can check the status of promos, top up their account, and redeem perks through the new and improved app, which is available on the App Store and Google Play.

New ways to enrich digital and real-life experiences

With their rekindled passion to impact lifestyles comes a new campaign: “Own It,” which encourages everyone, especially the youth, to share their passions with the world, giving them a voice larger than themselves.

Smart has teamed up with YouTube for Smart Launchpad, a platform that helps budding content creators upload their work and broadcast it to the world via Upload Stations that will be placed all over the country. Something exciting to look forward to are the workshops that Smart will be providing. They’ll be tapping industry experts to conduct workshops and will be choosing the most deserving content creators to fly to Los Angeles, California for a chance to collaborate with the biggest YouTube stars.

Smart also kicked off Smart Music Live! at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. On July 14, Smart subscribers were treated to an exclusive concert featuring Ely Buendia, Up Dharma Down, Nathan Sykes and more. Prizes were raffled off, including a brand new car, as well as tickets to the upcoming Selena Gomez concert on July 31.

SMART LIFE. Users navigating through the new Smart Life application

One of the highlights of the Smart Unbox was the launch of Smart Life, a new app that provides subscribers direct access to exclusive digital perks, videos, music, and games daily.

What’s next?

At the heart of all this change is a desire to bring better services to the Filipino people, so that digital solutions are available and accessible to all.

IN WITH THE NEW. Kat Luna-Abelarde updating the audience on what's new with Smart

“Our multi-pronged efforts range from bringing the smartphone to the hands of more digital newbies, to providing the most awesome content for young digital natives, to making sure that everyone will enjoy the best data experience,” said Kat Luna-Abelarde, the Smart Wireless Consumer Operations Head. “Our goal is to make sure no one gets left behind by this digital shift.”

The big question now is what’s in store for the next quarter or so?
