MANILA, Philippines – Why are there so many entrepreneurs in the Philippines?
We are a country brimming with them – In 2014 alone, 946,988 registered businesses were registere as small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
It’s certainly a more popular career option for millennials, who have been dubbed as the "True Entrepreneurial Generation" by Forbes Magazine for their preference towards starting their own business. [READ: What entrepreneurs can learn from Millennials]
Millennial entrepreneurs have also launched twice as many businesses compared to their predecessors, the Baby Boomers. And the reason why is this newfound focus on passion.
Passion has become the new motivation for careers. For older generations, it was just about money – climbing the rungs of the corporate ladder and enjoying life once retirement finally came around. But now, millennials are getting into business because they want to pursue careers that are purposeful, meaningful, and interesting.
Of course, being an entrepreneur isn’t all fun and love. It comes with its fair share of hurdles too. What we want to know is why you are an entrepreneur (or why you would want to become one), and what continues to fuel your passion in spite of these difficulties.
