Pilipinas Shell’s new Subic facility aims to fuel Metro Manila, Northern and Central Luzon
This completes Shell's supply triangle across the Philippines

The supply of quality fuel in the National Capital Region, Northern and Central Luzon just got even more reliable as Pilipinas Shell opens its Subic import facility. This is Shell’s third medium-range vessel-capable import terminal aside from the Tabangao terminal in Batangas and the North Mindanao import facility in Cagayan de Oro.

The Subic terminal maximizes Shell’s efficiency and minimizes transshipment costs since it can receive 54 million liters of finished products in one shipment. It’s strategically located to fuel the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

“The moves that we are taking are really in line with our expansion plans,” said Cesar Romero, president and CEO of Pilipinas Shell. “We are setting up a network of import facilities all across the country.”

What does this expanded network mean to the consumers? Quality fuels will be more accessible to the consumers to support their mobility plans.

“We share [the] government’s optimism and remain committed as the country’s partner in nation-building by leveraging our global expertise to strengthen our presence in the Philippines and bolstering supply ahead of Asia’s anticipated bounce-back in fuel demand,” said Romero.

This is just part of Pilipinas Shell’s plans to further enhance its supply chain in the Philippines. According to Romero, the company plans to invest P1 billion to turn the formerly Tabangao refinery into a world-class import facility. It currently has the capacity to receive 263 million liters, reliably supplying fuels to Metro Manila, Southern Luzon, and Northern Visayas.

“Consistent with our organizational growth plans, our partners can count on sustained reliability and the continued delivery of quality fuels,” said Wesley Stewart, vice president for trading and supply, Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation. – Rappler.com
