MANILA, Philippines – In travel, there is such a thing as the right time. It might be tempting to book trips on a whim, but in reality, it’s wiser to carefully plan for every trip you make.
You might have scored cheap plane tickets and saved up enough to go around and even buy pasalubong, but if you happen to visit at a less ideal time or season, you most likely won’t be able to fully enjoy places as they really should be.
Malacañang has already announced the national holidays for 2018, so start plotting those vacations as early as now!
To help you get started, we’ve come up with our recommendations of places you can visit and the best times to visit them.
December to February (Winter/Summer)
Iceland is famous for its otherworldly landscapes made even more magical by the northern lights. Winter is the best time to see the northern lights because the night sky becomes dark enough and the weather, cooler.
At the other side of the globe, meanwhile, the pristine beaches of Maldives are the perfect spot to unwind and lounge under the summer sun. Bring the entire family and play water sports, too!
March to May (Spring/Fall)
Pilgrims and tourists flock to Israel in April for Passover and Easter. But if you want to avoid the crowds, do visit the Holy Land in May. During this month, you’ll get to witness Jewish festivities as well as parades and other activities. The spring weather’s great, too.
Longing to visit Machu Picchu in Peru? Schedule a trip between May and October for a picturesque view of the ruins under clear skies. Do remember that peak season is between June and August, in case you want to avoid crowds.
June to August (Summer/Winter)
Summer in Japan is hot and humid but it’s when the most prominent festivals or matsuri are held all over the country. Join in the festivities and cap off your day with a bowl of cold noodles!
Going on safaris in South Africa is best during the dry winter season. Here, wild animals are easier to spot because they crowd around rivers and water holes. The weather is great and there are fewer visitors, too.
September to November (Fall/Spring)
Jeju Island in South Korea boasts of breathtaking natural landscapes. For cool weather and picture-perfect foliage that’s perfect for your #OOTD backdrops, visit during fall. Don’t forget to sample fresh seafood, too!
Enjoy tropical weather in Bali during September, which is just after peak season. Do water activities to your heart’s content, but don’t forget to visit other attractions away from the sea such as the temples, rice terraces, zoos, and bird parks.
As you figure out where to go, don’t forget to take other things into consideration, too. Scout for the best plane tickets as well as accommodations that fit your budget and needs best as early as now. Plan a detailed itinerary if you’re doing a DIY trip, or opt for travel packages that will allow you to maximize your trip.
