#GetHired: Will good grooming help you land that job?

MANILA, Philippines – The race to get hired is more competitive than ever. What can you do to add some extra leverage in your bid for your dream job or promotion?

With so many people just as qualified as you, some people would agree that having a well-groomed look and carrying yourself with confidence can give you that extra edge. 

Looks are one thing, but grooming refers to the way you take care you yourself – your skin, your hair, and your overall appearance.   

In an ongoing poll on Rappler, we asked the question, “Does grooming matter when getting a job?” Place your vote on the issue on the polling page.

The poll shows that people have been divided on the issue. An initial poll by Vaseline sparked debate on social media that resulted in 45 – 54 percent of people disagreeing that good grooming helps you get a job. The recently published poll on Rappler shows that there is a shift in views with 93% of voters agreeing that good grooming matters when getting a job. 

To listen to your views on the topic and further explore the impact of good grooming and of having a well groomed look in the workplace, Rappler and Vaseline Men held a conversation on Twitter on Thursday, June 19, from 1 to 3 pm.
