MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – A woman’s life is not just a pretty picture. Being excellent at work, maintaining good relationships and being at your physical best can be very difficult to achieve nowadays.

On top of that, social media sets very high standards of what an ideal woman should be.

In this era of selfies, it becomes a bit harder for women to love every bit of themselves. Filipinas also have a tendency to tell themselves, “Ganito na lang ako” or “Ito na nakasanayan ko,” as if they can’t improve themselves any longer.

However, there are women who do go against the dictated norm. These are the exemplary women who stand up for themselves despite challenges from society. They set their own rules and inspire women to be proud of who they are inside and out.
