MANILA, Philippines – The temperature hit 35 degrees at the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) Mamplasan Station in Laguna on Thursday, June 8. The air was dry, and the sun was blindingly bright. But like many other things that day, it was a “good problem to have” according to Kit Bermudez, Shell Retail Marketing and Strategy Director, whose spirits were just as high.
“Based on the weather forecast, it’s going to rain today. We prayed that it won’t so now we’re not complaining,” joked Bermudez as he addressed the media and influencers who went all the way to Laguna. They joined the convoy of Ducatis, Ferraris, BMWs, Minis, Mazdas, and Subarus going to the SMX Convention Center where the new and improved Shell V-Power fuel was to be launched.
The new V-Power is one of Shell’s biggest milestones. It is a product of the brand’s passion to offer only the best fuel to its customers.
“As advocates of smarter technology, we value constant innovation when it comes to our products and services. We deliver superior customer services and make sure we treat each and every customer like a guest,” said Cesar Romero, President and CEO, Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp.
The Philippines is one of the first countries where Shell V-Power with DYNAFLEX technology was made available, promising to provide both performance and efficiency to Filipinos’ driving experience.
“Our scientists worked hand-in-hand with Scuderia Ferrari, our technical partner, to test our fuels and to ensure they are up to par with even the most powerful engines in the world,” shared Mark Malabanan, Brand Manager, Shell V-Power.
In an interview with Rappler, Maan Abas told us how the new Shell V-Power was made for every car, big and small, old and new: “When we developed the new line of Shell V-Power, we tested it both on new engines and old engines. We wanted to make sure that it will meet not just the demands of the new engines of car manufacturers but also even with the older engines.”
What Shell considers as its most advanced fuels yet are the result of extensive testing that covered over 3 million kilometers of driving, and more than 250 different cars in varying road conditions.
“Shell V-Power with DYNAFLEX Technology was created especially for Filipinos,” said Mae Ascan, one of two Filipino fuel scientists in the world. “We made three variants to address the different driving conditions in the Philippines where in certain parts the traffic is heavy while other parts like the Skyway, motorists are able to drive faster.”
The brand also introduced two of its newest ambassadors who are avid riders and passionate travelers, Yassi Pressman, actress, host, singer and skilled dancer, and Jericho Rosales, award-winning actor, and adventure junkie.
“When you’re driving, you’re actually just focused. Especially on a bike, you have to be a hundred percent focused. It’s kind of like a meditation for me when you just clear your mind, feel the environment and hear the sound of the engine,” Rosales told Rappler.
“I think it’s great that the new Shell V-Power not just delivers premium performance, but also efficiency,” commented Pressman. “I think efficiency is important because I want to be able to make smart choices to also make the most out of my drive.”
Created to go well with any drive, be it on the racetrack or city road, the new Shell V-Power is available in three variants: Shell V-Power Gasoline, Shell V-Power Racing, and Shell V-Power Diesel. This new line of fuels is now available in all 1,000 Shell stations in the Philippines. –Rappler.com
