MANILA, Philippines – The ‘Monday blues’ are real.
Waking up early on a Monday morning to get back into the hustle is one of the most common struggles of the working population. We see it on Instagram and Facebook posts, and hear about it from our colleagues once they settle on their desks.
But a simple surprise at the start of the day can make it worth it.
A hearty breakfast to kickoff your week and take away the Monday blues may just be the answer to your problems. The best part is that for one day, it’s free.
On Monday, March 14, more than 400 McDonald’s stores nationwide gave away free McMuffins to both drive-thru and in-store customers from 6 to 7 am for National Breakfast Day in the Philippines. On their 4th year, this is also McDonald’s biggest celebration of the event to date.
Adi Timbol–Hernandez, Senior PR and Communications manager for McDonald’s Philippines, says that they have always celebrated National Breakfast Day on a Monday, sticking to their belief to start the week right with a good breakfast.
She said: “We know that Mondays are especially hard for us, you have a weekend hangover or you’re stuck in a commute. It’s just a drag and we thought why not do it on a Monday so we can lighten up the mood a bit with a delicious breakfast.”
It was a morning filled with smiles for customers all over the country. Top Filipino celebrities were spotted in select stores to hand out the free McMuffin sandwiches. Celebrities present in the McDonald’s stores were Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards in Blue Bay Walk, Pasay City; Enrique Gil in Almanza, Las Pinas; Janine Gutierrez in Granada, Quezon City; Xian Lim in ABS, Quezon City; Alwyn Uytingco, Shaira Mae Dela Cruz, and Vin Abrenica in Reliance, Pasig City, and Bianca Umali and Miguel Tanfelix in Quezon Avenue.

A beautiful surprise
Aside from giving away free McMuffin sandwiches to customers, McDonald's Philippines extended its 4th National Breakfast Day treat to groups who are unable to enjoy a good breakfast due to the nature of their work, such as our local fishermen.
