Paul Soriano: Visionary

MANILA, Philippines – Paul Soriano has been in the film industry for 12 years. 

He put up his own film production company, Ten17P, in 2009. To date, he has directed and produced 9 films.

A director and producer needs to be on top of every aspect of his film – from the narrative, to structure, to marketing. Still, Paul pays close attention to details such as color and composition. He believes that these elements help make a great film and allow his audience to appreciate it more.

For Paul, commitment, dedication, and willingness to learn can go a long way. He shares that he still constantly learns something different from every project and continues to value each story that he believes needs to be told. 

“It’s extremely difficult to make a film, so if you can’t have that sort of passion going into it from the beginning, I really don’t believe there’s any way you’re gonna finish it,” Paul says.

These days, he’s more purposeful about deciding which projects to take on, because he has to consider time away from his wife and son.

So he’s dedicated to making each new film worth every second – and that includes ensuring that every detail, such as color, comes out.

“I want the people to experience what us filmmakers put so much importance in. They need to see the color because that helps the story and that will help enhance their experience from watching a film,” he says.
