MANILA, Philippines – There are certain things that never go out of style when it comes to summer #OOTDs: light-colored and airy fabrics, native woven accessories, and floral prints, just to name a few.

But while head-to-toe, colorful floral prints might look amazing on the runway, in magazine pages, or on your favorite style icon, it doesn’t always translate well into everyday wear – or at the school or office.

But fret not! You can still get into this trend by following these tips.

Choose light-colored or pastel prints

Light floral prints easily lend a dainty look to your outfit the way its loud, colorful counterparts do. Which means you can easily wear large swathes of flowy, floral fabric – say, as a maxi dress or jumper – without going overboard.

But if light and airy isn’t your thing, we suggest wearing bold florals in moderation. Don’t run the risk of looking like a walking garden by pairing either a floral top with a plain skirt or pants, or a plain top with floral bottoms.

Let’s face it: tops with flower patches on the collars or right smack at the center have become too commonplace. Stand out by finding pieces with floral details in unexpected places such as embroidered flowers on the lapel, sleeves, or at the bottoms of tops and pants or skirts.
