Smart, Globe offer free calls for flood victims

'Libreng Tawag' for families and persons displaced by heavy flooding

MANILA, Philippines – The country’s telecommunications firms have deployed their “Libreng Tawag” services to assist families and individuals displaced by widespread flooding in the capital.

Smart Communications of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone group said it is offering free calls and text messages in H. Bautista Elementary School in Barangay Tumana and the Malanday Barangay Hall in Malanday, Marikina, as well as the Sta. Ana covered court in San Mateo, Rizal.

It said arrangements are being made for more Libreng Tawag centers in severely flooded areas in Bacoor, Cavite, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela.

Globe Telecom also deployed Libreng Tawag services in the following areas:

  • Concepcion Integrated School, Concepcion, Marikina
  • Daanghari Elementary School, Navotas City
  • Victory Liner, Cubao, QC

 

Nearby residents who were evacuated due to floods can use Globe’s Libreng Tawag facility to send text messages to all networks for free; make 5-minute local calls to any network, or a 3-minute international call.
