MANILA, Philippines – For the first time in the history of University of the Philippines (UP), 3 premiere photography organizations representing 3 UP campuses will unveil a joint photography exhibition titled, “Luwalhati: An Exhibit” to be displayed from April 18 to May 6, 2016.

Luwalhati is the first collaborative work of the 3 official photography organizations from the 3 campuses of UP. The exhibition aims to feature some of the works of the members representing the 3 organizations. It also seeks to promote photography as a whole and as a relevant medium for socio-cultural consciousness. The exhibit will travel to 3 UP campuses:

  • UP Los Baños: April 18 to 22 (Ginhawa Art Cafe)
  • UP Manila: April 25 to 29 (Museum of A History of Ideas)
  • UP Diliman: May 2 to 6 (Palma Hall (AS) Lobby)

In line with the event, a nationwide online photography contest will be launched on April 18, along with the exhibit’s opening ceremony at UPLB. The contest will end on May 3 and two winners (Voter’s Choice and the Overall Winner) will take home prizes sponsored by Nikon Philippines.

The UP Photographers’ Society or UP PhotoS (UP Los Baños), Shoot UP Manila (UP Manila), and UP Photography Society or UP OPTICS (UP Diliman) will showcase 100 photographs of different genres taken by young photography enthusiasts and aspiring photographers studying in the university.

Different visual interpretations revolving around the central theme “luwalhati” or glorification will be presented in the photography exhibit.

This event is in partnership with Nikon Philippines and Toyota Philippines. Some of the minor sponsors include Surprises Out of Boxes, Beeyanka’s Catering and Sitsirya. – Rappler.com
